Insomnia

If you are an adult there is a big likelihood that you have encountered a loss of sleep at some stage during your life.

Poor sleep can be caused by many factors e.g situational stressors like starting a new job; an environmental stressor like a new baby in the house, illness or certain medications

For a diagnosis of insomnia to be made a doctor will evaluate these triggers and determine if it has a an effect on your day-time activities

Insomnia can be managed with medication but the cause should also be addressed. Successful treatment options other than medication include CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), Stimulus control and Sleep hygiene

Insomnia needs to be treated as it is a medical condition
